What are the disadvantages of being a tour guide?

In most tour guides, we get the feeling that the person behind the guide has a passion for that place and knows every detail. They are very interested in telling you about the places they are taking you. And they love the fact that they get paid to tell you stories about places that would otherwise be inaccessible to you if not for them. However, being the tour leader may not be the best choice for you for the reason that, when it comes to taking people around, a guide is responsible for everything that goes on. This includes the safety of everyone who is on the trip. In some cases, tour leaders are responsible if anything goes wrong and they could be liable for damages. While this responsibility may sound great, in reality, some tour companies will not hire people who do not have a good history of safety and will insist that their guides have some sort of certification or training. Even though this may seem like an extra step, this is important.

Conclusion

The disadvantages are too many to list. The only real disadvantage is that if a tourist is going to pay you to take them around, they're going for more than just the sights. They want you for your company. And the best part about being with a group of tourists is they all think they know what they want, how they wish to spend their time, what sights they would like to see and how long they can spend in each place. This can sometimes be very frustrating. Also, if the tourist has a tight schedule they might forget to plan out their meals. I have seen this happen more often than not. What I don't like is when the guide is telling them what to eat. That is the tour operator's job. Your job is to lead them through sights, to show them the history and culture and give them a better idea of what is available for them. No one wants to visit a place and have no idea what's available to them there.
